Hiking

Turtle Beach Trail

Turtle Beach Trail

The hike starts at the Turtle beach, a refuge for sea turtles which usually nest in spring. In summer, you can rent kayaks and Sups to discover the surrounding bays. From there we climb up to the ruins of the ancient, roughly 2500 years old capital of the island.

On the top of the hill, you can enjoy panoramic views of the sea, the main port and the surrounding valleys and beaches. Feel free to discover the ruins and the unearthed, formerly sunken port of the ancient city. After some break we descent through fertile valleys to the unique, double-sided beach of Kolona, another popular sailing spot. Discover a sunken yacht in the bay of Kolona, take a bath in the crystal-clear waters, walk along the soft sandy beach or enjoy a cocktail or snack at the beach bar. Feel free to walk up the hill to enjoy amazing views of the sea and the double-sided bay of Kolona, worth taking a picture.

In the late afternoon we head back to the port of the island – in good weather conditions by boat. Back at the main port we taste the wine of the local winegrower which has won awards and is known far beyond the island. Moreover, we can enjoy his rich, traditional cuisine, watching the sunset at his tavern directly at the sea.
